Services
As a Licensed
Professional Counselor (LPC), I offer counseling to individual adults, couples,
teens, and families. Problem areas addressed may include: depression, anxiety and
stress; aging and other life transitions; relationship and communication difficulties; pre-marital counseling; separation and divorce; and parenting issues.
In my work with couples, I utilize Dr. John Gottman's Seattle Love Lab research and Dr. Marshall Rosenberg's NonViolent (Collaborative) Communication approach, helping couples learn to identify their strengths as well as problem areas, to communicate their needs and discuss difficult issues in a compassionate, non-judgmental way. Although I have not been specifically trained as an art therapist, I am utilizing collage as a method to identify feeling states with some clients who have difficulty expressing themselves with words.
Additionally, I have a specific interest in Medical Crisis Counseling (MCC), a structured therapeutic approach which addresses the physical, psychological and social issues
that contribute to difficulty adjusting to a long-term and/or chronic medical
conditions. MCC can be very helpful to the individual suffering with pain and/or chronic illness, and especially supportive to family members as well. Believe in yourself. You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you stop to look fear in the face. Eleanor Roosevelt
