As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I work with individual adults, couples, older teens, and families.      The people I work best with may feel anxious, stressed and/or sad; they may be concerned with 'empty nest', aging or other life transitions; have problems with relationships; family or parenting issues; are contemplating separation or divorce, or recovering from either.

In my work with couples, I help each individual identify their strengths as well as problem areas, identify and communicate their needs, and discuss difficult issues as they arise in the relationship. You will learn to: stay calm during a conflict; develop a better understanding of your partner's needs, as well as your own; recall and then to stay in touch with the love you have for your partner, and to experience 'fights' as an opportunity for growth.    To engage in conflict with honor, compassion, empathy and care is the road to greater intimacy and a mature, long-lasting love.

Although I have not been formally trained as an Art Therapist, I often use collage with clients who have difficulty expressing their feelings, wants and needs in words. This technique can be especially helpful for adolescents experiencing anxiety (worry) and/or depressive symptoms.

Additionally, I have an interest in helping patients and their caregivers cope with chronic medical problems. Counseling that focuses on the emotional and social issues that may contribute to the illness, in addition to the physical concerns and limitations, can help individuals and families (or caregivers) more easily to adjust to long-term and/or chronic medical conditions.

Believe in yourself.
You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you stop to look fear in the face.
