Philosophy

"...and then, the pain it took to remain tight in a bud became greater than the courage it took to blossom..."

Clinical research has shown that the therapeutic relationship is much more important than the therapeutic method used in counseling. Cultivating an open, honest, trusting, and supportive relationship and a safe environment in which to generate hope, encouragement and positive change is my primary focus.

I have training in and experience with many types of therapeutic approaches, using a relatively short-term, solution-focused model, always keeping your goals in mind. You will learn to retrain the way you think in order to reduce the effect of overwhelming emotions, which can result in relatively quick improvement in your feelings and behaviors.

If you appreciate honest, empathetic and compassionate interactions and communication, we will work well together. Working collaboratively, you will learn to first identify, and then to honestly communicate your feelings and your needs to others by learning and practicing skills that will then be available to you in the future.

I am honored to help you to recognize and work with your whole self,

welcoming issues that you may not have considered before.

Honest disagreement is often a sign of progress.
